This challenge invites us to put our minds and spirits where our bodies are — fully in the present. In order to accomplish the second two challenges we need to address the first:
1. Be fully present. Make yourself available and don’t multitask. Pay attention to people you are with and invest where you are (which includes classes and chapel). As we do this we will be equipped to effectively do the following:
2. Use plain speech. Don’t make excuses. Apologize without explanation when you are in the wrong. Don’t try to glorify yourself with your words. Say thank you when complimented and nothing else.
3. Emphasize others’ positive characteristics. Practice gratitude for other people with extra diligence. Speak well of people behind their backs and share good stories about them instead of gossip. Be sure to do this of your friends and your enemies.
